Nexus 10 vs Microsoft Surface

Today we gonna compare two amazing tablets- Nexus 10 and Microsoft Surface. Both of them belong to the giant companies. One of them had ruled the tech world from decades and other has gained its reputation with fastest popularity among customers. Yes, we are talking about Microsoft and Android. But, Apple has also its iPad with great image quality and recently launched iPad Mini. However, the iPad Mini had disappointed by failing the Benchmark test in display. Anyways, looking at the current market Microsoft has just getting into 10 inch tablet and Android had already with Galaxy Tab 10.1. The Microsoft Surface with Windows RT and Samsung Nexus 10 with Jellybean 4.2 are put into today’s face-off.

Microsoft Surface 10 inch tablet runs on Windows RT OS that is compiled for ARM processors. The new interface from Redmond seen on Windows RT is an absolute departure from icons and widgets that is on iOS & Android. In the ads you might have seen the new interface, that’s lovely with mosaic icons. Apart from that the Surface comes with keyboard covers that give it a professional touch than Nexus 10. Nexus 10 is aimed to satisfy the customers with cheapest price and to watch videos on YouTube.

Certainly Surface comes with useful experience straight from the box. Particularly the Microsoft Office 2013 Home and Student edition give the device to score an extra point. When it comes to application estimate, then Android has to offer 700,000 apps which is par more than Windows store has. Moreover, Nexus 10 is much demanding tablet because of application, whereas Microsoft is pulling its end to stand with user-friendly UI. It has Zune market and Xbox Music that offers paid and free streaming of music. Well, Google is also not lagging behind, as in coming year Microsoft to launch Xbox Music in Google Play store. This of course will put no pressure to which tablet should we go for in terms of getting better music tablets.

In case of ebooks, Amazon comes in first then Google and Microsoft don’t have ebooks. Google offers movie rentals outside US, while Xbox Movies can be purchased from many countries. Moreover, Google has announced purchase of movies via Google Play but still waiting to roll out.
Nexus 10 looks promising in terms of selling point of view because it has better display quality than Surface. The plastic casing and light weight will make the Nexus 10 more comfortable to hold. However, Surface is bit heavier and has harsh edges because of its VapourMg casing. The plastic body of Nexus 10 might look cheap but, the 3D gaming or the amazing quality of picture will shut the mouth. Android actually has such gaming features while Microsoft has to go long to catch up with that.

Microsoft Surface has just come straight from laptop world. This tablet has hard keyboard which is better to input text faster than virtual keyboard. The keyboard makes it incredibly hardwearing and an ideal piece of device with good deal of office work out. Looking into Microsoft Office, Google has Drivers which supports offline documentation. Not only Microsoft Office, Android has Dropbox and SkyDrive to edit documents when needed.

Verdict

Both the devices are new and have needed to be used by customers. It is our personal view to present the verdict, but look what we have got.

Nexus 10 has better video quality i.e. 1080p and is equipped with dual core 1.7 GHz processor. But, Surface has 1.5 GHz Nvidia Tegra 3 quad core powerful processor but, has 720p video playing capacity.

When comes to entertainment factor, Android offer Google Play store with lots of games, movies, ebooks and apps. But Windows store is still struggling to improve time to time. Both the device has multimedia store but, Microsoft serve more countries than Google.

Overall, we would say Nexus 10 is a budgeted tablet and it is jack of all trades. Microsoft Surface has better Office suits and will serve the businessman then fun lovers. It has dock keyboard that can gain attention because Samsung had not released keyboard dock for Nexus 10 yet.
