All of us know how the Mukesh Ambani backed company Reliance Jio has grabbed maximum share of the telecom market in India with a massive subscriber base of 100 million in just six months and now the company is planning to target the rural market with 4G supported handsets which will be low-end phones, but will support high-speed internet. Planning of these handset manufacturing is in rumor since January this year and Reliance is planning to launch these handsets with the brand name of Lyf, the Reliance Retail backed company.
As I told, the Smartphones are in rumors since January and according to a report by 91 Mobiles the Smartphones are going to pack a 4G SIM along with Jio Apps. According to reports, the Reliance Jio 4G phones will come with 2.4 inch screen, will be powered by Qualcomm and Spreadtrum chipsets and will support 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage which can further be expanded with help of microSD cards. The handsets will also pack a 2MP primary cam with VGA secondary camera. Of course, the users will get the 4G VoLTE support along with some other connectivity features such as Wi-Fi, NFC and GPS. However, there is no confirmation of the wireless tethering option still now.
As I told you the Reliance Jio 4G Smartphones will be powered by Qualcomm and Spreadtrum chipsets, so the company has also fixed the handset’s price accordingly. As per the company decision, the Qualcomm powered 4G handset will cost $28 (Rs. 1800) and the Spreadtrum chipset supported handset will cost $27 (approx. Rs. 1,740). The company is planning to sell these handsets at subsidized rates following the Jio SIM sale trend to gain more 10 million subscribers. The subsidized rate may cost Rs.999 to Rs.1500 in the starting phase.
