Tutorial to Update Samsung Galaxy S6 with Android 7.1.1 Nougat LineageOS ROM

Several devices are getting Nougat update and several more in this year will get the Android 7 update through OTA, Kies and manually. Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 EDGE are getting the Android Nougat soon. Along update new security patches have also been developed as custom ROMs. If you are a proud owner of Samsung Galaxy S6 G920F owner then here is the tutorial to update your device with  Android 7.1.1 Nougat LineageOS custom ROM.

The Android 7.1.1 Nougat LineageOS ROM supports tons of features like fingerprint, USB OTG, VR Mode/daydream, button backlight control, in call volume slider, vulkan support, dash charger, DPI selector and many more. If you are interested then jump into the requirement and procedure discussed.

It is necessary to root the device along with unlocked and recovery like TWRP or CWM must be installed. We don’t know if the device is rooted or not the update will work. The developer has developed the zip file and we are only the middle men to provide the procedure to update. Any mishap occurs then we are not responsible for it. The entire risk is on user.

Pre-Requisites

  • Make sure you are updating the Samsung’s SM G920F model because updating on other model can give unwanted results. Check before the update in settings- about device-model number
  • Keep backup of all data in case of data loss
  • Enable the USB Debugging in settings- development option-USB debugging and later untick it
  • Root access of the device is must
  • Charge up the device to 70 percent
  • And do not receive or call while update the custom ROM

Procedure to update Samsung Galaxy S6 with Android 7.1.1 Nougat LineageOS ROM

  1. First download the Lineage OS custom firmware for Samsung Galaxy S6 in your computer and make sure you do not extract it.
  2. Also download the Google app package and do not extract it
  3. Now attach the mobile to computer via USB cable and copy paste the files into the phone SD card and must not be any sub folder as the files cannot get detected.
  4. Detach the USB cable and switch off the Smartphone.
  5. Boot the device in recovery mode by press and holding the volume up home+ power button simultaneously.
  6. There clean the cache by wipe data/factory reset and confirms by pressing the menu button.
  7. In the recovery mode menu select the install zip from SD card and choose the files one after another. First flash the Lineage OS ROM and last the Google play package.
  8. Wait for 5 minutes to boot the device automatically, if not then select reboot system now in the same recovery mode.

In case the user get stuck in the bootanimation then  switch of the phone and go to recovery mode and then perform the cache cleaning and rebooting into normal mode.
