Xiaomi to clean Sweep the Smartphone market with Redmi Note 7

On 10 Jan 2019, Xiaomi launched Redmi note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro. Xiaomi which is a China based company entered the Indian market in 2014 with the launch of Mi 3. Since then the company has rapidly dominated the Indian Cellular market. Cheap but reliable products made the company very popular among Indians. Recent statistics suggest that Xiaomi has dominated the Smartphone market with a large share of 31 followed by Samsung. Now again the company is all geared up to showcase its influence in the market.

Features

Display: On the release event, the first look of the Redmi note 7 was absolutely mesmerizing, all thanks to the large 6.3inch full HD+LTPS display with a screen resolution of 1080×2340 pixels. The Smartphone supports the aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The screen also gets the super protection of Corning Gorilla glass 5. All these features make the Smartphone best in class in displays. A U shaped notch too is found on top of the display with a front camera panel which gives it a pretty descent look.

RAM & Storage:  The phone comes with 3 different RAM variants of 3GB, 4GB and 6GB primary memory space along with 32GB and 64 GB ROM variants. But in case of need it can further be expanded up to 256 GB with external micro SD card slot.

Front and Rear Camera: The Smartphone consists of two dynamic cameras, a 48MP primary cam and a 5MP secondary camera. The primary camera uses the Samsung’s GM1 sensor with an aperture of F/1.8. The sensitive sensor makes the pictures crystal sharp with a good balance of exposure and colors.

Similarly the front camera panel packs a 13MP camera equipped with AI face unlock and AI smart beauty features. The single shot blur feature in the front camera is a new feature for the Redmi mobile segment.

Battery: The smart phone is powered with a 4,000 mAh battery. The quick charge support makes charging of a large battery quite less time consuming.

Processor:  Like always Xiaomi comes with the latest processor in market i.e. Snapdragon 660 octa core processor with a GPU backing Adreno 512. One thing about the Redmi segment of Xiaomi is that these smartphones are always equipped with powerful and high performance processors which we can expect only in higher price range like in Vivo V11 that is priced around Rs. 25000.

OS: One disappointing feature of the Redmi Note 7 is that it runs on MIUI 9 based on Android Oreo. While the older segment phones have already got the MIUI 10 update, this new comer has yet to wait a little more time for the MIUI update.

Other features: Except all these features the phone as usual contains some general features such as fingerprint sensor just below the rear camera panel. A new feature is the quick charging USB Type C port. This is the first phone of Redmi to support USB C port. It’s being rumored that though the phone supports quick charging, but the selling packet packs only a normal 10 watt regular charger. The 14 watt fast charger needs to be purchased from the Mi store separately.

Colors: The metallic body of the Redmi Note 7 comes with some funky colors i.e. Red, Pink, Blue and others.

Budget:  Presently it has been launched only for Chinese market with price tag of 999 Yuan which is approximately 10,418 INR. The smart phone is yet to be launched for the Indian market. If the company launches it in the same price range then supposedly it’s going to be the most sold smartphone of the year.
