How to update Nextech / C-Spire Galaxy S8+ to Android 7 Nougat G955USQS1AQF7 Firmware

Now the Android 7 Nougat firmware is officially available for the Nextech/C-Spire Galaxy S8+ SM-G955U handset. Pre-Requisites

  • Backup all the device data using back app.
  • For connection with personal computer, one must enable the USB Debugging on SNextech/C-Spire Galaxy S8+
  • USB driver for the Galaxy SM-G955U must be installed on PC.

 Procedure to Update SNextech/C-Spire Galaxy S8+ via OTA

Should have stable internet connectivity on the phone and then go to Setting>About and tap on the update option. If the device is already updated with the latest firmware then the massage ‘The latest update has already been installed’ will appear. Then tap OK to initiate the download and then complete the installation. Once it is done and the device will get rebooted automatically.

Procedure to update SNextech/C-Spire Galaxy S8+ via Kies

Get a stable internet connection to your device and then download & install the Samsung Kies utility on your PC. Then connect the device to PC via USB cable. After that run Kies and the device will get detected automatically. At the Kies home screen, the new firmware upgrade notification is available. Then click on the firmware upgrade button to start the update process and follow the instructions. If this is not possible, then go to the manual update through Odin. When the update is done, then the device gets rebooted automatically and then you must detach the cable.

  1. Download the above mentioned .zip file on your computer along with Odin v3.09 and extract them.
  2. Run the Odin v3.09 as an administrator.
  3. Switch off the SNextech/C-Spire Galaxy S8+ via Kies and then boot into download mode by holding the Vol down+home+power button and soon after the Vol up button to precede to download mode.
  4. Connect the device to your  computer via USB cable and see the CM port is open in odin screen. An Added text message appears that means the device is successfully connected. If not then again install the USB driver.
  5. Check the “Auto Reboot” and “F. Reset Time “options, also click the “AP” button and select the .tar.md5 file that was extracted on above step.
  6. Click on the start button to install and after few minutes the Pass message appears. After completion, the phone rebooted automatically.
  7. Now you must detach the cable and check the Settings>About for verification.
  8. If your device get stuck in the middle of normal reboot, then go to Recovery Mode by press holding the Vol Up+Home+Power buttons together and perform “Wipe Data/Factory Reset” and “Wipe Cache Partition” task earlier than go for the reboot system now option. In Recovery Mode use the Volume keys to navigate between options and Power key to select any option.
